hermea:
A Tribute to the Legacy of Hermes & the Hermaea Festival.

STATER OF HERMES p

Hermea takes its name from the Hermaea festival, celebrated at the Feneos region (Feneos), in honour of Hermes, the messenger of the gods. According to Hellenic mythology, Hermes was born at Mount Kyllini, linking the villa to the heart of his legend.

Feneos, where the villa is located, lies at the foot of Mount Kyllini and has long revered Hermes as its primary deity. The Hermaea festival, held in his honour, featured games that united the community in joyous celebration.

The emblem of Hermea features the stater of Feneos, an ancient coin that depicts Hermes on one side and Demeter, the goddess of agriculture and fertility, on the other. Minted locally, these coins symbolised the region’s prosperity and its rich agricultural heritage.

“By incorporating this emblem, Hermea honours the mythological

past of the place to which it belongs”.
